April 10 - Angie Banta Brown - Watercolors
has long been known as an excellent watercolorist and teacher. The
paintings at the right and left are examples of her watercolors.
Recently, however, she has been painting more in oils. Indeed, she now
offers classes in New Braunfels in both,
watercolors every Wednesday, oils every Thursday. She will be in Waco to
present a workshop to the Central Texas Watercolor
April 11-14, and she agreed to come a day early to do a demo for us. You
can attend a second demo Monday evening, April 11, at the Arboretum for
a $10 fee, but our members and first time visitors may attend ours free
will bring examples of paintings in both media, and she will compare her
use of them. In fact, she plans to bring the oil shown at the right, and
to paint a watercolor of the same scene as her demo. Don't miss this
demo by a superb artist and teacher. We will meet at the usual time and
place: Waco Charter School, 615 N 25th Street, 1:30 for refreshments and
conversation, with the meeting at 2:00 and the demo shortly thereafter.
Bring some of your work for Show and Tell to share during the break. And
bring friends to enjoy this special occasion!
April 10 - Baylor Faculty-Student art exhibit replaces ill demonstrator
A much-anticipated demonstration by Angie Banta Brown was
cancelled on short notice due to her surgery and subsequent
complications. We hope that she will recover fully and quickly. Perhaps
we will have another opportunity to see her presentation in the future.
Fortunately, the Martin Museum at Baylor was open that
Sunday, a day when it is usually closed. The exhibit was a display of
faculty art and student art which had been judged by Dallas-area
sculptor Sherry Owens. Some of our members attended and were pleased to
find much talent among the entries.
