November 11 - Art We Like - Bring a piece that you own
This month we will
do something different. Rather than a having an artist create something
for us, we will share art works that we own. Everyone will have a chance
to share one piece, and if there is time, we might have a second round.
What is on your walls (or tabletops). Why did you buy it, if you did?
What do you like about it? Is the artist still around? We will
meet at the usual time and place: 1:30 for refreshments, set-up, and
conversation, 2:00 meeting, officer election, and art sharing, at the
Waco Charter School, 615 N 25th Street. Bring a friend.
Remember that it is time to pay your 2013 dues, $15 for
basic membership, $25 for gallery membership. Add $5 if you have no
email address. Pay before January 1 to be sure of getting in the
directory and to get the above discounted prices.
November 11 - Sharing Art We Own
Pat Blackwell Nancy

This month we
decided to bring art that we own, but that is not of our own creation.
Many did that and shared with us what they like about, how they acquired
it, and who created it. Some of the art shared is shown below. The names
below the art are those of the owners, rather than those of the artists.
Kathe's piece is a portrait of her son, long ago. Violet's were done by
a quadriplegic, and Charleen's were done by her housekeeper. This turned
out to be a very enjoyable time, and some have suggested that it be an

November 16-17 - Apple Tree Bazaar
We will have the same booth at the Apple Tree Bazaar
again this year, very near the front door, a bit to the left, right
behind Pat Blackwell's booth. We set up Friday morning 9-12:30, and the exhibit
opens at 1 pm. It continues until 5:00 pm on Friday and is open again
Saturday 9-4. Those who volunteer to man the booth or set it up and take
it down are allowed to display and sell their art. However, the main
focus of the booth is to make the Art Guild better known and to sign up
new members. If you would like to be part of this, contact Bill Franklin
at firstname.lastname@example.org or
November - 16 & 17 - Apple Tree Bazaar
we had a booth at the Apple Tree Bazaar. Many thanks to Linda Green, who
stayed with the booth all day both days. Nancy Cagle also came on
Saturday, and Bill and Judy Franklin set up the booth. Sales were
disappointing, only about $100, mostly Linda's jewelry. Our 10%
commission on them reduced our net cost to about $50. We hope to have
had enough publicity to justify that. We do have one prospective member.

November 19 - Exhibit at MCC
will mount an exhibit at the Ball Performing Arts Center at MCC on
Monday November 19. Please bring up to three (3) hangable works at least
16" x 20", including the frame between 2:30 and 3:30. There is no theme,
but nothing can be exhibited which has been shown before at MCC. Please
bring your art to make this a great show. The exhibit will end Monday,
November 19 - Exhibit at MCC
The exhibit at MCC will remain on view until January 7.
Stop by and see it if you get a chance. Exhibitors please pick up their
art between 2:30 and 3:30 on January 7, or get someone to get it for
you. The photos below don't do justice to the art, which is best
seen in the evening when there is no glare from the windows. If you can
take in an evening performance, you can see both in one trip.
