February 3 - Closing Reception at Art
The exhibit closing
Friday, Feb 3, has works by some 40 area artists. The reception is a
great opportunity to see what the local art scene looks like, and to
meet many of the artists represented. It's free, and there are
refreshments. Time is 6 to 9, with awards at 7.
February 12 - Karen Groman - Felting As
Groman won't just be telling us about felting, or even just
demonstrating it. She intends to help us create our own felt
“paintings.” She plans to provide all of the materials except soap,
should you want to felt a bar of soap. The idea is to arrange wool
roving into an artistic design, not necessarily a representational one.
Then it will be soaked in very hot water for a while, blotted dry with a
towel, and, finally, ironed flat so that it can be framed. An example is
shown at the right. Come join the fun at our usual time and place,
Sunday, February 12, at the Waco Charter School, 615 N 25th
Street. Come at 1:30 for refreshments and conversation. The meeting
begins at 2, with the presentation shortly thereafter. Bring art for
show and tell, and bring friends. The first visit is free.
The Art Guild of Central Texas has scheduled the following exhibits:
= Early March to early
May at MCC.
= Exhibit rules are found on our Bylaws & Rules Page.
