December 13 - Annual Luncheon, Installation of Officers, Arboretum Postcard Selection & Card Address List

Our annual luncheon and installation of officers will be at 11 am on Saturday, December 13, at Portofino's Italian Restaurant at 725 Austin Avenue. This is the same wonderful restaurant we used last year, but it has moved downtown, which is closer for most of us. Mary Behrens will have an interesting story for us while we wait for our food.

Also, the work to be used on the postcard announcement for the Arboretum exhibit will be selected by vote at this luncheon. If you would like for a work that you plan to enter to be used on the postcard, bring it. One item per member please.

December 13 - Annual Luncheon & Installation of Officers

We had a very nice dinner at Portofino's on Austin Ave across from the Hippodrome (at left). Two paintings were brought for use on the postcard announcement for the February exhibit at the Arboretum. Both were excellent, but Kay Lamb Shannon's (at right) was selected by a one vote margin. We have just heard that Kay was featured in a recent issue of Women of Distinction magazine. Her life is outlined briefly from her childhood in Weatherford, her art degree from Sam Houston State University, and a few years of teaching in Waco and elsewhere, to the evolution of her art from a hobby to pretty much full time. Today, she is making very detailed paintings for two jigsaw puzzle companies. She has no plans to retire.

A number of people paid their 2015 dues at the luncheon. If you haven't, remember that discounted dues are only available through December 31.

31 - Deadline for Discounted Dues

To get discounted rates for your 2015 dues, you must pay by December 31. Regular is $15, Gallery is $25, Student $5. After that date, dues are $24 Regular, $36 Gallery, and $12 Student. Sponsors may join at any time for $100, and Art Majors are free anytime - just email a request to Bill Franklin at
