March 13 - May 7 Art Guild Exhibit at MCC
Be sure take in the
MCC exhibit in the foyer of the Ball Performing Arts Center. The
exhibit is especially good at night when there is less glare on the
glass in some of the frames. Also, the hall is open evenings when
there are performances, and the performances are almost always
wonderful, and always either inexpensive or free. It is also open
8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, except during spring break, March 17-21.
Note the change in ending time. This leaves the exhibit up for the
May 6 concert.
Please pick up your art between 2 and 3 p.m. May 7,
or ask someone to do it for you.
All scheduled
performances are all at 7:30 p.m., except for the April 26 performance
at 2 p.m.:
April 24-26: "Tartuffe," Molière’s classic French comedy
satirizing hypocrisy and zeal in the name
of religion. For tickets call 299-8283, $10 adults, $8 seniors.
April 28: MCC Wind Symphony Concert, FREE.
April 29: MCC Chorale, FREE.
May 2: "Spotlight," students will perform enhanced
concert versions from "Pajama Game" and
"Blood Brothers." FREE.
May 6: Waco Community Band Concert, FREE.
For more details or other MCC events see the calendar at
www.mclennan.edu.
New exhibitors this time are Hilde Giles
and Jason Sorley, both of whom entered painting that command attention
by virtue of large size and exceptional quality. The paintings are
shown below from left to right as they appear. We have grouped
them by artist again.

Recent Exhibits
March 3 - Reception for the Arboretum Exhibit
We had a great turnout for both the exhibit and the
reception. In all there were 44 art works by 15 artists, including
our "old masters" and some wonderful new members. Exhibiting for
the first time were Hilde Giles, with some light, airy oils, and John
Twardowski, with pointillist paintings in warm colors. If you
didn't make it to the reception, drop by sometime to see the exhibit.
The Arboretum is open 9 to 5 weekdays and 10 to 2 on Saturday, except
when events are scheduled. Because there are a number of events,
it's best to call before going. The number is 399-9204.

Above are some of the reception attendees. Below is a virtual
tour, beginning to the right of the front door and continuing to the
right around the room. In some photos, windows between paintings
have been cut out.

November 15 - December 10 - Exhibit at MCC
We
received 19 paintings from six artists, fewer than we would have liked,
but it still made a good showing. At Christine Niekamp's
suggestion, we kept the works of each artist grouped together, rather
than scattering them out as we have been doing. What do you think?
Is it better to let people see one artist in a grouping, or to come upon
each painting as a new experience as they move along the line?
Each artist group in the exhibit appears below in the order they appear
from left to right. To achieve some balance, we put the artists
with larger paintings in the middle and put the smaller works on the
ends.
Drop by and see it
in the foyer of the Ball Performing Arts Center. Many fine
performances are held there, including some free ones, so take some of
those in too. Check the calendar at mcclennan.edu.

after the official installation. Once installed, all art shall
remain in place until the exhibit is over. A fine of $5 per item
will be imposed on the owners of any art not picked up during the
